Beat 8

Officer Johnny Busby

June 2010

During the month of June, I met three residents who reside in Beat 8.  The residents were Mary Parker, Gerald York, and Juanita Ramos.  While speaking to the residents I discovered that none of them had any complaints, or concerns, regarding their neighborhood at that time.  I gave each of the residents my business card should they ever need to contact me or the police department.

This month in Beat 8 I made contact with one resident and followed up with another resident who were in violation of the junk vehicle ordinance.  The resident I met with this month regarding the junk vehicle ordinance was Karla Robles.  Ms. Robles had a vehicle on her property that wasn’t running because of transmission problems.  The registration and inspection stickers on the vehicle were also expired.  The vehicle was a blue 1994 Dodge Caravan bearing TXLP X69-PZR.  I issued Ms. Robles a warning for the vehicle.  I also advised Ms. Robles that I would give her a month to have the vehicle repaired as well as re-inspected and re-registered or have it removed off her property.  The follow up I made was at the home of Herman Hernandez.  Last month, I issued Mr. Hernandez a warning for having a junk vehicle on his property.  The vehicle was a black 1981 Chevrolet Scottsdale pick-up bearing TXLP UE2-PZR.  When I went to Mr. Hernandez’s home this month I discovered that Mr. Hernandez had removed the vehicle off his property.

Also this month I made contact with Ricardo Valdez, who’s the only registered sex offender residing in Beat 8.  During my contact with Mr. Valdez I discovered that he was in compliance with his address, phone number, job, and vehicle information as required by law.

While I was patrolling the north side of the city this month, (which consists of Beats 1 through 4), I made a list of all the street lights that were not working.  The list was given to Master Sgt. Martin so they could be fixed.

Lastly, I visited with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bryan, the elderly couple that I check on, this month.  During my visit, I found that Mrs. Bryan was feeling better after being ill.  Furthermore, during my contact with Mr. and Mrs. Bryan, they were curious to know about our Field Training Program for officers who are new to the department.  Being a Field Training Officer myself I was able to tell them what new officers must learn before they are able to be put on their own.
